Happy 2013!!

So, 2013 will not be the year that erica and christy are published, but we still have hopes and dreams that we make progress toward being published! We've seen a few lists of who IS being published in 2013, though, and we're excited to pick up and read some of these fabulous authors. We did do some reading in 2012, but not nearly enough (is there ever such a thing?)

erica: First of all, I want to point out my husband is taking me out for New Year's Eve for the first time since the new millenium. I know, I'm OLD. Hopefully I can stay up until midnight!

Anyway, 2012 for me was "The Year of Sports" because my 11-year-old was in basketball, baseball, and football this year and my 6-year-old was in basketball, t-ball, and soccer. The older one played exactly 4 (out of what seemed like hundreds) of his various games in our home town and most of them on weekends (my husband works weekends) and I spent A LOT of time driving in the car. And no, I haven't made the switch to audiobooks yet, so my reading time was pretty restricted. Plus, you know, Christy and I WROTE A BOOK this year. So, that was big. :)

(why oh why is Blogger saving this post every 5 seconds, causing my computer to freeze up and all my words to run together and ohmygoodness a ton of typos??!! BLAH, BLOGGER!!)

I should also mention I'm cheap, so most of my purchases were Amazon Deals of the Day on my Kindle or Indie books by people I know when they had them on special or rereads of ones I own. Yes, I have an Amazon Prime membership, and yes, I know I can borrow books for free on my Kindle, but no, I never remember to actually do it! So here you go, Erica's "read in 2012" list, in no particular order, except this is the order they appear on my Goodreads bookshelf or my Kindle list. Yes, some were great. Yes, some were stinkers. No, I won't tell you which were which. :) Thanks for stopping by! (all pics link to Goodreads)

The Secret Underground     Ashfall (Ashfall, #1)     Under the Dome    Hollowland (The Hollows, #1)    Life of Pi    Breathless    Never Eighteen    Will Grayson, Will Grayson    The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1)    Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)    Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)    The Truth About Faking    Gone (Gone, #1)    Hunger (Gone, #2)    Lies (Gone, #3)    Plague (Gone, #4)    Fear (Gone, #5)    Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1)    Matched (Matched, #1)    The Book of Fate    The Age of Miracles    Broken Laces    The Prospect of My Arrival    Everybody's Daughter    Losing Beauty    The Whole Clove Diet    The Woman Upstairs    Dust    Skeleton Lake (The Hollows Series, #1)    I, Zombie    Getting Caught    The Story Template: Conquer...    Pretty Amy    Hollowmen (The Hollows, #2)    The Doll     Unearthly (Unearthly, #1)

Hmm, it felt like a lot more. . .I did read a TON of sample pages looking for possible comps and/or to see what the hype was about and put it on my TBR (meaning get at the library or wait until it's on sale) pile, such as Gone Girl, The Fault in our Stars, and Wonder. Care to share your "best book read in 2012" in the comments - or feel free to link to your own blog if you posted a list!

Our Co-Writing Jouney, part 4 of 3 (stuff that makes us laugh)

Thanks so much to those of you who are reading the pages of The Text Message right now! We're so excited to this close to the query trenches again (no, that's not the part that makes us laugh. okay, maybe a little!)!

Go ahead. You know you want to watch it. We'll wait.

Over the past year, erica and christy have exchanged thousands of emails, mostly about our kids husbands food ms**. Here are a few taken completely out of context and meant for your enjoyment. Go ahead, laugh - we did! Oh, and we hope you had a great Christmas/Holiday season and we can't wait for the excitement 2013 brings!!

*erica's green*  *christy's blue*

ooh, boy and girl would be fun. i was thinking two girls, but boy and girl would be fun.

How do you not know what donkey basketball is?

3-4 chapters a week. that'd be about 2 months to write all 20 of my chapters and do some revising and editing, right? see? we'll be done by april!!!

Pretty soon I'm going to stand in the doorway and stare at them until they feel uncomfortable and leave.

titilating. is that a word?

I lost everything.. . Have fun with Castle. I'm letting Laptop sleep on it for the night. I'm sure it'll be back to itself in the morning. ;)

oh, and a medium-well steak that mooed at me.

My Amazon "suggested titles" list looks like a porno in the making.

[Son #3] is chewing through power cords.

Tons of bunnies here. A new crop just born this past week.

I'll think of something brilliant to say too!

This email brought to you by "Sentences that start with the word And." :)

Have you ever watched Regis and Kelly?

And finally, I bring you erica's famous last words: We can always fix it later.

**the moral of the story is - if these people can finish writing books, you can, too. :)
