Instead, I'm offering up the Red Hot Chili Peppers. If you listen to it, be sure you're writing edgy and hot. If you aren't, well, take a break and listen to it. And watch it. Sure, they're a bit on the skinny side, but tattooed guys are pretty hot (we are, after all, Team Jacob on this blog). As are chili peppers, of course.
HAPPY WRITING!!!!
Most of the time I listen to music when I write. I don't pay attentions to it in the sense that I hear the words, but to have some kind of soothing background noise.
ReplyDeleteAnything to drown out the construction noise of the three-tiered high-rise they're building next to to me.
Happy writing ladies.
Michael
Interesting selection. But you also may want to try Skin- by Rhianna if you're writing "hot" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8QvJhCbrOQ
ReplyDeleteCheers

I love the Chili Peppers! My go to hot music to write by is Shelly Fairchild. She's very bluesy and has an edge that is perfect for hot writing! But then, I'm a blues lover!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what my formative years would have been like if I'd had teachers like you. "Okay class, let's exercise to 'A Hard Days Night,' by The Beatles." LOL

michael, chris, heather and nancy,
ReplyDeleteooh good!! :0) now we have song ideas for more HOT writing weekends. although i don't think either of us are actually writing any hot or steamy scenes at the moment. it's a blog-only theme, i'm afraid. and since we teach pre-k and 2nd graders this type of music doesn't make it to our classrooms either!!!
Love the Chili Peppers! And Usher!
ReplyDeleteNow I wish I was writing "hot." Sigh. But part of the reason I picked this video is because my 12-year-old mc, Kaleb, would enjoy the gaming aspect of it while I can enjoy everything else.
ReplyDeleteNancy, my classroom does rock. I've had 3-year-olds for the last few years and those kids know how to dance (I give them all credit for me needing to lose 5-10 pounds instead of 80-90)!!
Chris - no videos with hot females. Note the comment above about my extra 5-10 lbs!!
Heather - I don't know much about blues. I'll check her out!
I usually write to cartoons in the background, but while editing AND, I found myself listening to a lot of Nickleback, Hinder, and Buckcherry. No idea why, but it worked for me (without my kids present, of course)!
i forgot to say "thanks, heather for the new blues artist!" my husband and i really like blues, but haven't gotten around to actually getting any music. now we'll have someone to try out!
ReplyDeletenickelback is one of my FAVES!!! i owe lawrence's chapters to them and daughtry!!
I love "Higher Ground" by the RHCPs - that one's pretty hot (Center Stage...) and then lately "Wicked Game" in my head for a good romance scene... I usually hear a piece of music somewhere random and then wish I was at my computer writing... :)
ReplyDeleteHigher Ground is one of my absolute FAVorite songs! I love ballet so I own Center Stage. I haven't watched it in a while so I might have to pull it out again. I have the soundtrack!

Lol.. ohhh.. I remember this song! Aww.. the memories :)
ReplyDeleteI don't usually listen to music while I write, but there are many songs that inspire me.
i love love RHCP and the best thing is in the summer all the french roadside artists sing RHCP songs and i cheer them wildly from my balcony.
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day they'll let me in the band
