It Really Can Happen and Blogging/Tweeting CAN Help

Sometimes it takes reminders from others to nudge us along during times of low motivation.

Sometimes rejection can get us down.

Sometimes the non-writers in our lives can roll their eyes when we say we need to check our blog or twitter account.  And sometimes when they say it's a waste of time, we wonder if they're right.

Well, recently I read two blog posts within minutes of each other that reassured me that my gut instinct was right.  (See here and here.  Both Shelley Waters @ Is It Hot In Here or Is It This Book? and Roni Loren @ Fiction Groupie (during a guest post @ Ashley March's blog) blogged that they received agents, not only because they are wonderful writers, but also because they had referrals from blogging/tweeting friends.)

I'm NOT wasting my time writing.  AND I'm  not wasting my time building a platform and making AMAZING connections with fellow aspiring and published authors who blog and/or tweet.

And neither are you.

Please continue to share your success stories with me.

  1. I love blogging because I've made some incredible friends through it. It's a lot of work but worth it because only other writers really understand the pain and joy we experience during our pursuit to publication. :D

  2. That's amazing!

I do agree. You know I spent a ton of time blogging, but I have seen and entered wonderful contests in order to get noticed by an agent. You just never know when you'll hit that chord.

  3. I love blogging. I feel like I've become a better writer and I have followers. I feel like there are people reading my blog and cheering for my success the same way that I read other blogs and cheer for their successes. You never know when someone might be that person who gives a recommendation, face to face or online.

  4. I kind of feel like my blog is my own personal world. And that through blogging I'm discovering other planets. What could be better than that?

  5. Thanks for sharing those success stories with us. And for the reminder that we're all on the right path. I have really enjoyed these past weeks of much heavier traffic to my blog and the amazing comments I'm getting from all my new blogger/writer friends.

  6. Thanks for this post, ladies!

I love my blog and Twitter. Even if I never get published, I've made some incredible friends and I always love hearing about their successes. Every day I am amazed by this wonderful online writing community.

  7. One of the best parts of blogging is finding people who DO understand what you said here. It must be almost impossible, if a person's not struggling to write and publish, himself, to understand how tough it is, and how important it is to stay linked in. Even my loving family often look like they just don't get why it's so hard to get published. And Twitter and blogging? Oh dear. But they do work, you are so right.

  8. This is a great post reminding us to keep on truckin' even when the gas tank is near empty! Of course, it helps to pull off at the next truck stop and refill before continuing down the road. But there are always more routes than just one to publication. And sometimes it's okay to take the scenic detour to get there.

  13. This is SUCH encouraging news! Thanks for sharing! I have often wondered myself if this was worth all the time. But darn it, it's fun! And informative! And now it's really cool to hear that the networking pays off.

  14. My first partial request came from an agent who was taking referrals through her client's blog (this was before I blogged, but was a regular commenter on the site). It didn't work out, but I sure felt great about how it went.

  17. No amazing story, except for the fact that I have learned a ton through blogging. I would no nothing about the world of e publishing if I hadn't been on the blog-o-sphere. So, there's good stuff out there.
