Monday Means Winning

So, anybody do anything interesting last night? *whistles* *hums* *hopes someone gets her joke*

Okay, fine, I'll tell you what we did.

We both wrote a bit on our mss. christy celebrated a family birthday. erica took care of two sick kids (yes, two - and not with the same illness, oh no, that would be too easy). christy reported to erica's 82nd email that she was, in fact, not dead. (thrills a minute over here, folks)

And there were two winners last night. First, um, did anyone else hear there was a football game on?

OMGOMGOMGOMG
yeah, we totally take credit for the win

Oh, and yeah, there was a 150 followers contest, too, wasn't there?
Why yes, yes, I think there was.

Not to be outdone by the NFL, erica and christy announce our winner of either the Hunger Games series or the first three books of the Gone series by Michael Grant. The winner will get an email from us. And will be announced in a minute. But first, a few observations:
  • When we announced this, we were at (around, sorry, don't remember exactly) 142 followers
  • Today, we're at 163
  • That's 21 new followers (we're good at maths and stuffs)
  • We had 19 contest entries (not including Abby and Lindsey, who are awesome and bowed out because they already had the books) (or christy, who I disqualified. :)
  • You know what that means? We had new followers who didn't enter
  • We don't actually know what that means. We hope it's just because they like us and aren't Darth Vader or he-who-shall-not-be-named or that other weird guy erica posted last week
  • Yes, I wanted to alternate between green and gold for this list, but gold is hard to read against our background, so we stuck with black
So, our question for today is - how do you choose to follow other blogs?

Oh, and we have a link to offer, if you haven't heard about it yet. It's Rachael Harrie's 2nd Platform-Building Crusade. Check it out.

Oh, wait, so you want to know who the winner is?? Okay, fine, give it up for.....

MISHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Squeeeee! Thanks so much. I can't wait to read them. :-)

As for how I follow... I click follow and read if I like what is being said over time.

    Weird, I know.

    Congrats on the Packers.

    :-)

  2. Thanks for the link to Rachael Harrie. That's actually my favorite way to choose blogs to follow--by checking out something suggested on a blog I already follow and seeing if I like it. Works like a charm most of the time.

Much sympathy for the taking care of two sick kids at the same time. That's more than a full-time job in itself.

    Congratulations to Misha, too!

  4. Congrats Misha! And congrats to the Packers! I know how much they mean to you Christy.... Erica, I'm not too sure about. BUT since she lives in Wisconsin, I'm sure she is very happy too.

Sorry to hear about the kids, Christy. I hope they are better today.

Ladies I did very specific tribute today.... please hop over if you get the chance.

    Michael

  5. I'm one of your new followers. How do I decide what blogs to follow? Well, the same way I ended up following yours. I saw something on another blog that linked here. I think it was the coffee mug pic thingy I saw on Sondrae's Corner. I followed the link, liked what I saw and followed. If I would have known you liked the Pack, I would have started following sooner. =)

Congrats to Misha! Sorry about the sick kids. =(

  7. New follower! The number keeps going up.
    :)
I just like finding other writing blogs. The bigger the writing community, the better!

  8. Congrats, Misha!

And I choose new blogs two ways... if someone checks ME out (comments or follows) I try to get over and check them out back an typically I follow unless the content REALLY just doesn't suit me (not much for poetry or spiritual stuff) and then I ALSO frequently follow links given on blogs I read and if that content seems appealing, I will follow. This though, is something more reserved for when I have a little extra time. people make my SIDEBAR and become regular visits at the point of a little reciprocity.

  12. Yay, Misha!

The Mystery Science Theatre episode I previously referenced is Giant Spider Invasion. Or you can just go here, because they shortened it considerably for you: http://www.buzzfeed.com/chrismenning/mst3k-packer-win-the-superbowl One of my favourites. :)

And I usually follow a blog because they have interesting posts, which leaves me now following 100+ blogs because I'm not particularly discriminating. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I don't read all 100 on a regular basis, so I guess it defeats the purpose.

  16. Congrats to Misha!! And to you, too as well. "Go Packers ....it's your birthday!" (that's a song or something, right?) I did watch the game - it was a good one! And you'll be happy to know that I was with a bunch of people rooting for your team, too. It was fun! I choose to follow blogs that are just fun, real, full of voice, and seem like nice people. Oh, and the writing is awesome!

  17. Congrats on your winner!

Honestly, I used to follow everyone that followed me. But now, since I'm getting more followers, and its getting harder and harder to keep up with blogs, I have given myself a new rule to only follow aspiring YA authors, published YA authors, and writing related blogs, like agents and editors and publications and stuff. I just can't do it all. I think I'm up to around 200 or so blogs that I'm following.
