It's May. Hope you enjoy it!

It's May. Breathe deeply and enjoy the spring.

Lilacs don't exist in Wisconsin yet, because Mother Nature forgot that it's May and sent snow instead, so we're focusing on a random picture of them. Could someone please remind her to show up here soon? Also, if you were breathing during this picture and you're allergic to lilacs, don't worry, these are the non-allergenic kind. :)

We're writing this spring month. Erica on her MG paranormal and Christy on her YA contemporary. (We'll post on Mondays and Thursdays this month on our blog and hopefully visit you often!)

We promise that not all of our May posts will be pictures and videos. But it's spring and a time of hope and renewal and vows and writing. We wish you all the best of luck and (huge) publishing contracts as soon as possible. Also, gardens. To tide you me over, here's a picture of my erica's garden on May 22nd of last year with some seedlings popping up. I won't post a picture of what it looks like now, because it's too depressing.

MOTHER NATURE, WHERE ARE YOU?? WE NEED YOU TO COME TO WISCONSIN!!

Wow, I can make a short story long, can't I?? It's christy's influence, btw

What about you? Got any spring plans? And what are you writing??

(edit - I had this scheduled to post before the news of the death of Osama bin Laden. Truly, we're proud to be not only Wisconsinites, but also citizens of the United States. We pray that the world is safer now.)

  1. I've just realised with great shame that I never visited any of your A to Z posts. Shame on me.

Like the both of you, it's back to the writing for me.

  2. Yeah, not spring in Michigan yet, really either, though it looks like you've got it even worse than we do. Don't forget to SAVE some writing for BuNoWriMo in June!!!

  3. Spring is still questionable in Calgary, too. It snowed last week, but today will be warm (it might even feel hot!). :D

I'm working on my YA contemporary. This round of revisions are almost finished. Next up will be sending it in waves to my beta readers (my CPs have been critting it as I've worked through this draft).

  4. Lilacs are my favorite flower! Our lilac bushes have buds, but no sign of the flowers yet - here in upstate NY. We had a week of cold rain, then a gorgeous and warm weekend (70 yesterday!) and nowe we'll have another week of scattered showers and only 50s and 60s.

I continue to revise my YA historical fantasy. It is coming along nicely (I hope). I'm looking forward to a beautiful May!

  6. LOVE that breathing on the beach picture. That's exactly how I felt yesterday on the 1st of May, because the air was fresh and warm and glorious (Finally!) here in the Pacific Northwest. Good writing to you and Christy!

  7. Happy May! I wish you luck with your writing and hope you both make lots of progress.

And I join you in praying that last night's news means we're all safer today.

  8. Oh man, snow in spring? I would die. We're getting the rain. Buckets and Buckets of it. And it's cold. Gah, Mother Nature seriously hates all of us. I hope your garden survives the snow! I'm sending warm springy vibes your way. I'm in the same boat you are- finishing edits on my WIP, polishing that darn query, and agent research. Hopefully it'll be ready by the end of summer!

  9. I love the pictures! My May should include revisions that make the manuscript all sparkly. Will I succeed? I sure hope so! Good luck, girls.

  10. I'm writing, erica. I'm writing. Grant stayed at school all day. Bryce is sleeping. I wrote "that" scene I kept putting off!!! I didn't blog hop yet, but I WILL. I will be an awesome hopper. And this baby (wip) will be done by the end of May. BTW: finish by May 30. Edits by June 15. Send it to CP/beta by June 16. Yes, I made this public. No backing down. <3 christy :0) (Oh, and you'll thank me later even if you're irritated right now.)

  11. Man! I'm sorry you guys are still dealing with winter hanging on... I'm mentally pushing our hot, humid air up to you! :D OK, I know, you'd rather I keep the humid part.

But you should see my hair. Defying gravity~ :D <3

  12. Spring hasn't come to IL either, but I keep hope alive. The boys actually rode bikes today.

I'm awful proud of our country (and our service people!) today too. :)

  13. Yay for May! It seems everyone is on a big editing frenzy lately, myself included. Is Spring the reason? It's a good enough reason for me :)

  14. NO SPRING YET! NOOOOOOO!

HOW much longer do I have to stay down here. I want to go home! LOL.

  15. No worries, I love videos and pictures. Post all the spring pictures you like if it makes you feel warmer. ;) I'm working on a YA steampunk, so much fun! But I'm submitting my YA historical fantasy (submitting, not so much fun).

  16. We tend to get spring very early in the Valley of the Sun. :)
I plan on writing 30000 words on my new wip by the end of May. I think it will go under paranormal/mystery/suspense YA.
I wish I can do it NaNowrimo style but I want this to be the best I've ever written.
Good luck to you ladies. I will be looking forward to the updates.

  17. I know it is spring but we've had so much rain that it doesn't quite feel it yet! We'll get there. I'm writing a contemporary YA.

  18. Mother Nature is hanging out here in Austin. So much so that my husband is having trouble breathing due to her generosity with the pollen. I'll try to chivvy her along to Wisconsin.

  19. Spring hasn't showed up anywhere, really- not even here to SoCal, really! I think the Groundhog lied to us, or didn't take into account La Nina. May, get a move on!
