The first, of course, was christy: my Blog partner, my Best (even if she's virtual) friend, my Beautiful sister-from-another-mother. This is who I thought she was. Folks, I was wrong. She's a Bad, Bad person who emailed me yesterday that something came up and she can't make it to the conference this weekend for our very first face-to-face. This was me when I read it (which was embarrassing, because I was at work):
Yeah, a minute later I realized it was an April Fools Day joke. BAD CHRISTY!! BAD, BAD CHRISTY!!
Secondly, Baseball. Man, do I love it and this is definitely my favorite time of year. But the Brewers lost opening day (*(HDCIFHDSIY**%#$) and that's all I have to say about that right now. More later (there's still for, you know, the Milwaukee Brewers, in a couple weeks, when their players are mostly off the DL).
Thirdly, I thought about other relevant "B" words (the whole joke thing notwithstanding, I would never call christy that, get it out of your head). Blog. Blogger. Blogging. Bloggified. Blogging friends. Blog tips. Blog...(that's it, I couldn't come up with anything else. I'm lame that way.)
Fourthly, I realized I should not have started using ordinal numbers as adjectives.
Fifth, I remembered our personal challenge was to name books that start with that letter. Since I recently started this one, it was an easy choice (anyone read it? I'm not that far in yet and I'm sure it's amazing, but I have to quit trying to read it before bedtime since the beginning is a bit, well, sleepy for my taste...):
Sixth (er, finally), I decided we could all use a little more Sir-Mix-Alot in our weekend. Enjoy.
Loved the post, fascinated by the way in which everyone is tackling this. Carole.
ReplyDeleteHey I like the new blog look! What a cruel April fools joke... but a good one! *congrats to Christy*
ReplyDeleteGood luck at the conference!! How fun!
The Book Thief is on my TBR list. Sounds like she got you good. Tee hee.
ReplyDeleteFunny stuff. The Book Thief is awesome, especially once you get used to the odd, um, different narration.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad she was joking about going to the conference. I know how much I want to meet my crit partners who live far away and how awesome it is to have a buddy to hang with at a conference.
Have fun!
Bad Christy indeed! LOL! I would have totally been that screaming little girl too.
ReplyDeleteThe Book Thief, great choice. And yes, we could all use a little more Sir-Mix-A-Lot in our weekends. ;)
Very BAD Christy!
ReplyDeleteI looked at that video. Where are the big butts? Those girls had gorgeous perfect bodies. Apparently he's never been to the beaches in central Florida... there you will see REALLY BIG BUTS!
Very mixed bunch of stuff, first time seeing Sir Mix a lot, funny video and song.
ReplyDeleteWow, Christy IS bad! Who knew? We thought she was all sweetness and light!
ReplyDeleteI heard some kids on the bus one day singing "I Like Big Butts" and was completely horrified, until their mum explained to someone near her that they were singing the Shrek version. So then I was slightly less horrified that they were watching movies when they could have been reading. ;)
Oh my that is a very good bad April's fool joke!!!! I would have been in tears! :)
ReplyDeleteOrdinal numbers as adjectives... smile.
And the Book Thief. I tried SOOOOO hard to love this book. So many people love this book. Drool this book. If it doesn't work for you, another B I love very much is the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud :)
*falls over* Oh, BAD BAD Christie *snort* too funny.
ReplyDeleteI like MINOR league baseball. I don't feel like there is enough action in the majors, but minors have some errors (and cheaper seats--you KNOW how cheap I am).
As for the Book Thief--I ADORED that book! It took a little while to get used to the cadence of it--it is different from anything else I've read, but once I fell in, I ALSO thought it was BETTEr than most of what I've seen recently. I am including it in my BB&B Monday list of books with 'Unusual Voices'
When I read about Christy saying she couldn't go to the conference, I got so sad for both of you! I'm glad it was just a joke!
ReplyDeletefor the record, i DId apologize almost immediately after sending the email and confessed to having had sweaty palms while hitting "send". i don't lie well....
ReplyDeletei don't think it even measured up with maggie stiefvater's or kiersten white's online april fool's jokes. next year i'm totally staying off twitter on april fool's day. writers in general are just BAD!!! they rubbed off on me.
:0) i wouldn't miss next weekend for anything in the world!!!
She's devastated - poor girl...lucky thing 'twas only a joke.
ReplyDeleteThe Book Thief is one of my favorite books ever.
ReplyDeleteVery nice post. Yes, that was really tricky of Christy to do that to you, and I am sorry that you got upset at work over it. I really enjoyed reading The Book Thief, hope you do too.
