Nicki Elson, author of the romantic and humorous novel THREE DAVES (a book that takes place in the 80s!), is hosting a fab blogfest today! Check out all the entries by clicking HERE to go to her blog where you will find all the other participants.
erica and I were on the young side in the 80s, but you're never too young to have a crush, right? here are three guys that came to mind when I thought of crush-worthy movie stars from my youth.
at one point, in elementary school, i think, i watched the monkees and had a crush on this one:
davy jones
laugh all you want....
later in the 80s, like the very last year, i had a crush on these two. (was i supposed to pick just one?)
andrew mccarthy
i loved weekend at bernie's
robert downey jr (who i still love, by the way)
one of my favorite movies (the movie my wedding song came from)
chances are
who was your 80s crush?
Andrew McCarthy- oh yeah. he and Molly Ringwald were a great pair.
ReplyDeleteAndrew McCarthy and Robert Downey Jr. are wonderful choices. I like Robert more now. I think I grew into him!
ReplyDeleteAndrew McCarthy made the movie Pretty in Pink for me. Nice choices.
ReplyDeleteOh, Chances are is such a good movie! Andrew McCarthy...I never quite understood his appeal, but maybe if I'd been looking at him from the younger angle I'd have like him too. ;)
ReplyDeleteDavey Jones played a concert in the little town next door on the courthouse lawn - it was, like, the biggest thing to hit Geneva ever! Haha, you think I joke - it's totally true.
Thanks for joining the fest!
Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings
ReplyDeleteOf the bluebird as she sings.
The six o'clock alarm would never ring.
Robert Downey Jr is one who got better with age. I'm with Christine that I like Robert better now, than in the 80's but I still did crush on him back then!
ReplyDeleteSince I was a teenager in the eighties, the better question is, Who WASN'T a crush? LOL
ReplyDeleteBut I'd have to put Rob Lowe at the top.
Andrew MCarthy had the cutest smile!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I've never seen Chances Are. (At least I don't think I have, but since I think I'm older than you my memory may be fading!) The Davy Jones reference makes me think of when he guest starred on The Brady Bunch, but I think that would be the 70's Blogfest!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! Even Davy :)
ReplyDeleteRobert Downey Jr. IS the dude!
ReplyDeleteI loved and still love Robert Downey Jr. too!
ReplyDeleteI actually could not stand WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S, I think 'cause it had a dead guy in it ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for Robert Downey Jnr., YES PLEASE! ;)
My '80s crush (and '90s, and '00s, and yeah, the '10s are looking good, too) was Michael J. Fox. I was heartbroken when I found out he was happily married and (nearly) old enough to be my father. Yes, I was about six years old when I found this out.
