The bank? The weather. The store? The weather. The post office? You guessed it. The weather.
This is our weather:

I'm sure there are authors who come from Mississippi, Alabama, etc. I have no idea how they do it. Even in the central air, I have absolutely no creativity. Therefore, you get a discussion of weather.
How about you? Any inspiration?
Sun sounds good to me. Living in a frozen land is not all it cracks up to be, believe me!
ReplyDeleteHope the weather breaks soon!
ReplyDeleteChristy - check out http://www.writersdigest.com/article/thrillerfest-2011-pitch/ I found it really helpful and hope you will too :)
If you are still looking for opinions on the pitch, I say #2.
ReplyDeleteWe spent 3 hrs yesterday with no power in 100+ temps. My AC kicked on at 6am this morning - prepping for another scorcher. Bleh. I totally understand your lack of inspiration. It's hard to get the creative grumption up when it's that gross outside.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say #1 pitch works best for me. Good luck with your pitching. The premise sounds really interesting. =o)
Shame! I had weather like that in the beginning of the year.
ReplyDeleteHope it breaks soon!
Love this little slideshow. It's flipping hot here too.
ReplyDeleteI love the rewrites! I think #3 is my favorite. And wow, that is some weather! Usually we get that here in the spring and fall but our spring was pretty mellow.
ReplyDeleteGoing to agree about pitch three. It's just a little bit more specific and I like that.

2 (tweaked). Dawn, the only one who can see the deadly shadows, is blamed for the death they cause. She must find who's responsible for the murderous disease and uncover a cure before authorities find her--guilty.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah. Hot. Moist. Moist and hot. And stormy. Soup. Just sent my kid on a bike ride. That's how I roll.
Ah yes, the lovely midwest. This week is supposed to get up to about 100 and 110 heat index. I feel like I haven't been outside at all this summer! It rainted all April and May, and then June it was suddenly in the upper 90's and we never got a break! And school starts in a month for us!
ReplyDeleteI just picked my daughter and her friend up from the pool and when I asked how it was, they said "Hot." It's even too hot for the pooool!
ReplyDeleteI like #3 best.
I keep hearing about this horrible weather around the country and it just makes me so grateful to live in Southern Cali. I mean, it's warm today, sure, but it's not surface of the sun hot. And humidity? What humidity?
ReplyDeleteIt has been hellishly hot up here in Calgary. Then today, not one but two separate massive thunderstorms rolled in. Thank goodness it cooled things off a bit. :)
ReplyDeleteStay cool!

So odd, our weather over here on the west coast has been very mild this season. It's almost like our weather patterns have swapped! Hang in there and keep lots of candles handy.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you are in that mess of hotness! And the humidity I've heard is horrible. Our weather has been hot, but not that hot. It's around 80 something or other today, which is weird because it's been in the upper 90's all week. I'll take it though!
ReplyDeleteI hope you cool down soon! :)
I like #2. I am rudely unsympathetic to your heat (don't worry; in a few months you can reciprocate when I moan about the cold).
ReplyDeleteAnd, a completely unrelated question: No anarchist bookstores in Wisconsin? Really? Such a bummer.
That's our weather too. But throw in an unexpected snowstorm and you've nailed it. ;)
ReplyDeleteUgh. We're feeling it here in the Northeast too. In the 90's all week and no rain. Last night I took my kids to the County Fair - I have never been so sticky in my life. Gross.
